If your first instinct was to run, well done, your human fear reflex works XD
if not, at least this guy just wants to play, not eat your face.
The premiere of the Altamaran Hunting Dog!
"DOG??" you say? Wellll, when translating Altamaran into English, the closest equivalent word describing this kind of animal is 'dog'. Therefore, if you asked an Altamaran, they would tell you with a straight face that this gangly, scaly ball of teeth-and-claws was a dog :3
[[ Biological notes, beware of longness]]
this creature hunts in packs between the trees of the vast forests and open grassland of it's native planet, using complex barking signals to coordinate attacks. The teeth are primitive, designed only to break the shells of their insectoid prey (whose soft insides don't require chewing molars).
The teeth and claws of the hunting dogs are in fact made of a similar substance to insects. This is because the dominant lifeform on Altamara is invertebrate insects, and all vertebrate life evolved as some kind of branch-off of this animal kingdom. Even Altamarans, whose hair, nails and bones are made of substances present in native bugs.
While Altamarans don't domesticate species on anything near the level humans do, records of hunting dogs being kept date back to the early ages. The current Emperor keeps a pack on royal ground for hunting expeditions. As they already have a complex barking code, they can be easily trained to respond to other sounds and understand spoken commands.
They are not often kept as household pets, because they require lots of attention (as a pack animal) and plenty of space and exercise to remain healthy. The species has males and females, which pair up with a new mate once a year to raise a litter of 1-4 puppies. colours range from a bright yellowy-green, to browns and occasionally black.
Anyone else thinking 'Demonic Yoshi' XD kinda reminds me of the Lickers from Residentevil, well the claws and tongue at least Looks like something that would be at home in Oddworld
I like the Bio, really creative, you've put alot of work into it.
perhaps i should comment on the art itself tho. i love the movement in this, you've also got a nice colour scheme, the colouring style itself is compelling i think you did a very good job
d-demonic yoshi? no... *squints* I can't believe I actually know what you're talking about when you say "lickers".. that was AGES ago >_<" and the oddworld I haven't seen hide nor hair of since I was in primary school for that matter..
When I was a teesy kid, I saw an artwork of a licker in by best friend's res' evil guide book. That was the one time I saw one, and I still know what you're talking about, so I'd have to agree on the 'iconic' part..
I remember the odd pc game.. you could make him fart by pressing the right keys XD
farting was an important part of the oddworld games, you often had to use it to solve puzzles, or as i used to do, to make the other people walk off cliffs to avoid the smell XD
