Breedable Reference- Mackarel: paused!

Boy, this one's a real oldie as far as adopted designs go! I got this pal as a gift (I think? or perhaps a small trade) from Psilocybik back in 2016! The redraw art is from then as well, but I thought it had held up to the test of time so well that I really ought to post them<3

His name is Mackarel, based on his markings and colours (also I once had an old book that described oarfish as a relative of mackerel, I don't know if this is still considered to be scientifically accurate, but it's a nice match for the blue barred markings).
