Chupacoye Species Ref: P2U species and bases!

Description

I made these as a challenge to myself, to see if I could actually make a 'deviantart dog/wolf' species! I enjoyed doing it, but I'm not sure I'll use them a ton myself, so I thought why not offer them up to you guys instead? c:

Pressing the 'purchase' button on the side will give you the ref and two .png bases to use in making adoptables, breedables, fan chars, ect! You can also include them in rps/ect as characters or pets of characters as long as it is non-commercial<3

Purchasing gives you the full rights to make and sell these! Preferrably for points, and no more than 100 points a go- I can't stop you from charging more, but since it's only 20 points to buy the rights, if you charged too much, people might just go get the right to make their own here~!

(Once purchased, you don't HAVE to use the bases as long as you make them reasonably accurate looking, but you DO need to purchase rights using the button even if you don't plan on using the bases.)

(bear in mind that if you are squicked by vaguely parasite-y things, you might want to avoid them)

The general idea of them came from those mangy coyotes that people mistake for 'chupacabras' sometimes in the criptid community- I thought 'what if those were actually the VICTIMS of a chupacabra-LIKE thing instead?' Thus Chupacoye happened. <3

Cresent Moon Emoji- They're meant to be something very un-canine masquerading as canines, probably in order to get closer to prey without rousing suspicion. They're solitary creatures that stalk around wastelands and deserts looking for sleeping members of the canidae group, whom they drink the blood of using their needle-thin proboscis. In order to support themselves this way, they need relatively large territories and small numbers, so you're unlikely to ever see more than one at a time in a given area. When prey is truly scarce though, the barbs on their tongues can be used to scrape or pulp carrion off of roadkill/ect and suck up water and other fluids. They have no teeth and cannot consume large lumps of food however.

Cresent Moon Emoji- They don't have males and females, as all of them just parasitise to reproduce, producing clones. The resulting young look like smaller adults, perhaps with slightly more exaggerated proportions, but never like true 'puppies' as they need to live, hunt and and grow without any parenting. They can inherit pattern and colour traits of the victim used to grow them. This is thought to be adaptive mimicry in order to help the species hunt more of that specific prey canid type.

Cresent Moon Emoji- They are usually natural colours, but here on deviantart, second-gen Chupacoye with bright and unnatural colours can be used by 'breeding' them using a brightly coloured victim. It has to be something either extremely doglike, or straight up just a member of the canidae e.g. a wolf, fox, ect.

Cresent Moon Emoji- Keeping a Chupacoye as a pet/ect CAN be done, but they require unique care, and breeding more of them would require killing a canine animal, which is generally considered very cruel. If for some reason you/your character DID come into possession of a Chupacoye, it it best to get them as young as possible. They don't imprint or bond on a 'parent' as they aren't parented, and don't act like a normal canine would, but they can be trained to accept handling to some extent. Remember to feed them fluids that fit their dietary needs, and just don't expect them to be super cuddly!

and that's about it! if you have any questions, please ask/comment! I'd be super happy to answer<3
